24 Hour Theatre SLAM!

24Hr Theatre Logo Our first 24-Hour Theatre Slam was held in 2008. It was such a huge success we  have repeated the fun every year! The 5th annual 24-Hour Theatre SLAM was held October 20, 2012. EGRHS students wrote, rehearsed, and performed several short original one-act plays all within a 24 hour period. Open to all EGRHS students, regardless of whether they have thespian experience. No auditions!  There is a $10 per person activity fee.

Theatre Trips

Drama Club has organized trips to Chicago to see Broadway touring productions.

Each May, the club takes a 2-day bus trip to Stratford, Ontario to see 3 shows at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. The 2013 Trip was May 24 & 25, 2013. The 2014 Stratford trip is scheduled for May 23-24, 2014.

International Thespian Society

International Thespian Society LogoEGRHS is a member of the International Thespian Society, troupe #4241. The International Thespian Society is an honorary organization for high-school and middle-school theatre students located at more than 3,600 affiliated secondary schools across America, Canada, and abroad. The mission of ITS is to honor student excellence in the theater arts; its motto is, "Act well your part; there all the honor lies."

Students earn Thespian points when they are involved in any aspect of our productions. The point system is determined by the ITS. After earning 10 points, a student is eligible to be inducted into our ITS Troupe #4241. Each May, a Thespian Society Induction and Awards Ceremony is held, where new members are inducted and existing members are recognized for additional Thespian points earned. Graduating Thespian seniors are also recognized during this moving ceremony which is a highlight of the school year. The Thespian Society Induction and Award ceremony for the 2012-13 school year is scheduled for May 6, 2013, 7:30 p.m. in the Little Auditorium.

Membership in the International Thespian Society is a respected addition on college applications and the Thespian point system is the criteria by which the EGRHS Stage Boosters select scholarships for seniors.
